Carnevale di Venezia!

Yesterday was an amazing day as Megan and I traveled to Venice for the annual festival! The Carnival of Venice is held every year ending with the Christian celebration of Lent. We were so fortunate to see all the intricate costumes, the beauty of Venice and of course we got to see all of our friends who are studying abroad in Florence! Our day started super early as we woke up at 5:15 to get ready and catch our 7 am train to Santa Lucia in Venice. After a crazy morning of quickly getting ready, running late, and catching the tram to the train, we finally made it with moments to spare.

Three hours later we finally we made it to the beautiful Venice! Of course before we did anything else we took a few quick pics on the Grand Canal!

After many pictures, we bought our ferry tickets to the festival that is held in San Marco! But being as it was a cloudy day already, the ferry ride was FREEZING! It was so windy as we were on the water that me and Megan were shivering and instantly regretted not wearing warmer outfits. But even as our hands were turning numb we still took some pictures of the amazing scenery! I mean how could we not!

After arriving at the carnival we decided to explore as we waited for our other friends to arrive from Florence. I was in amazement at all the unbelievable costumes. The details were incredible! I mean every stitch and every bead was put and placed to perfection!

Our friends had arrived a little while later and after catching up with and wandering the streets of Venice we decided it was time to ride a gondola! I mean how can you go to Venice and not ride one! So we each split up into groups of four got on the gondolas and ventured out into the water! It was absolutely stunning. All of the buildings and homes that sat on the canal was a sight to been seen! It was fun and relaxing and I HIGHLY recommend it to anyone who travels to Venice!

After the gondola ride, we all decided that it was time to warm up and eat! So we all headed to a quaint little restaurant for some dinner and coffee. We stayed there and chatted for a few more hours until it was time for Megan and I to start heading back to the train. Overall it was such an amazing day and definitely a trip for the books! Until next time Venice, arrivederci!
xoxo
