Over the weekend the girls and I traveled to the Amalfi Coast where we toured the cities of Sorrento, Positano, Capri and Pompeii! These cities were amazing and just so beautiful that it really felt like we were on a relaxing vacation. Although the trip did not start out that great. On Thursday we left Milan by train and made our way to Florence to get on a bus that would take us to Sorrento. Once we arrived in Florence we got on a coach bus that was supposed to take us about seven hours to arrive at our destination. But about half way through the trip we started to smell this smoke. Then the bus started to slow down and carefully pull over to the side of the highway where we stayed for the next ten and a half hours. We were on that bus for a total of fifteen hours before we made it to Sorrento. It was one of the worst traveling experiences I have ever had but once we got there and saw the view that horrible bus ride was forgotten. It was absolutely breathtaking.
That Friday we made our way over to Positano where we had a sunny relaxing day on the beach! We got amazing panini's, did a little shopping, tanned on the beach and then we were able to paddle board in the Mediterranean Sea. Padding boarding with all the girls was so much fun! We were all taking pictures and trying to stand up on the board without falling off…which everyone did. We all had such a good time and definitely was something I will not forget.
After our paddle boarding experience we wandered the streets and did a little shopping. The streets of Positano were so cute and quaint. While we were shopping Deb decided to stop and get some sandals, that the man handmade in front of us. It was so cool watching him put together these shoes in about ten minuets.

That night we all went out to a bar to celebrate Carly's birthday! It was so nice seeing all the girls from florence as it is one of their last weekend trips before they go home! Celebrating Carly's birthday in Italy was so much fun and it was great that we were all able to be together for that!
The next morning we were all up bright and early for our day to Capri! We headed down to the ferry that took us about thirty minuets to reach the island. From there we were able to take a boat cruise around the island and see the famous Blue Grotto! Since it was still so early in the morning the boat tour was FREEZING! We were all so cold as the boat cruised around the coast. Although the view was so amazing that it made it totally worth it!
About an hour into the boat tour the captain pulled over into a secluded area where we were allowed to jump off the boat into the Sea. At first there was no way I was going to jump into that freezing cold water when I was already so cold. But after much debate I decided why not… and just went for it! Lucky, I was not the only one to jump in, but once the initial shock went away it was so refreshing being in the water!
Once we all dried off we made our way over the the Blue Grotto, which is one of the seven wonders of the world! We pulled up to the tiny cave and we were surrounded by these tiny boats that only held three people to take us into the cave. It was so incredible to see the water so illuminated. It was one of those things that made no sense as to why it was like this but I was so amazed looking at how the water glowed.
After our boat tour, we got onto the main island and we hiked up to the city center to do a little shopping and sight seeing. After about what felt like a million stairs to the center we finally made it. As, awful as the walk was up to the top, the view was absolutely amazing!

On Sunday we were up early again to catch a train to the city of Pompeii. It was about an hour ride but lucky we went on the first Sunday on the month so the admission was free!!! As we walked through the streets it was incredible to be able to see the remains of this civilization. Thinking back to when I was younger, learning about this tragic event and then being able to stand there and see the volcano in the distance was crazy. For me this was a really awesome moment and something that I always want to remember!!
As we made our way back to Milan I thought about all the ups and downs of this trip. From the sixteen hour bus ride to paddle boarding in the Mediterranean Sea, this was one of the best trips ever. The craziness of this trip made it all the better and now we all have these awesome, funny memories forever. So thank you to Euro-adventures for making this trip unforgettable! To the beautiful Amalfi Coast, I will be back soon!!
xoxo
